We’re proud to see the difference music can make to the children we teach.
From playing a first beat or chord to performing in front of an audience, every child’s musical journey looks a little different. Here are some of the experiences parents and carers have shared with us about learning with DWA.
“Aidan absolutely loves his lessons. He has grown in confidence since starting to play the drums and his coordination is really improving as well.”
— Fiona Black
“Cooper has really enjoyed his lessons with Andy, he’s gained a load of confidence and looks forward to it each week.”
— Ollie Ansell
“Thank you for being so patient with him and such fun during his lessons, he comes home beaming every Friday!”
— Rachel Ball, parent of Jackson
“Isaac often talks about Thursdays being his favourite day of the week because of his drum lessons.”
— Lexi, Isaac’s mum

LEARNING TO KEEP GOING
“Learning drums has really helped develop Henry’s focus and gives him the drive to keep working on something knowing that eventually he will get there. Thanks for everything you do, he loves drumming!”
— Tilly Shale
Learning music isn’t about getting everything right straight away.
We want children to feel comfortable having a go, making mistakes and trying again. Those little wins add up – and learning to keep going when something is difficult can be just as valuable as learning the music itself.
A LOVE OF LEARNING
“Alex has a great teaching style and passion for drumming which has rubbed off on my daughter. I’d recommend Drum With Alex without hesitation.”
— James Hope
“Alex has tailored his learning to what he’s passionate about and Isaac can’t wait to see him each week!”
— Dani de Croos
For us, one of the best signs of success is simple: a child looking forward to their music lesson every week.

A MOMENT THAT MATTERED
Isaac’s story is one we’re particularly proud of.
As a naturally shy and sensitive child, performing in front of other people was a significant challenge. Through his lessons, however, he developed a positive relationship with his tutor, Steve, and built the confidence to perform at his school concert.
His mum, Lexi, told us how significant that moment had been for him and how the trust he’d developed with Steve had helped him do something that would previously have felt incredibly daunting.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to Steve for the way he is teaching Isaac. Isaac speaks so highly of him and, being a naturally shy and sensitive soul, the fact that he felt confident enough to perform today was huge. I really feel that’s down to Steve. Thank you!”
— Lexi, Isaac’s mum
He didn’t just learn something on the drums. He stood up in front of his school and did something he wasn’t sure he could do.
THAT’S THE SORT OF PROGRESS WE LOVE TO SEE.
MORE THAN JUST MUSIC LESSONS
“My little one is confident and creative, uses drums every day after school and loves entertaining friends and family.”
— Simona Stratulat
“As a result, he practices almost every day and I can’t wait to see where he will be this time next year.”
— Dani de Croos
Learning an instrument is only part of the picture.
Music gives children opportunities to concentrate, listen, coordinate, persevere, be creative and experience the satisfaction of achieving something they couldn’t do before.

SOMETHING TO WORK TOWARDS
“His events mean the world to the children he engages with and give everyone a good feeling inside.”
— Simona Stratulat
Where possible, we love giving our students opportunities to share what they’ve been learning through school concerts, assemblies and other performances.
Success doesn’t have to mean playing perfectly.
For one child, it might mean performing a complete song. For another, simply standing in front of an audience and having a go can be an enormous achievement.
Progress, not perfection.
COULD MUSIC BECOME THEIR THING?
Every child starts somewhere.
Whether they’re interested in drums, guitar, piano or singing, our school lessons give children the opportunity to discover music, develop their skills and enjoy learning at their own pace.
